My name is Michael S. Bennett and I am an artist intending to do wonders in the industry. I go by the name of M’ Hotep. I have been involved in the hip hop culture since the day I was born which was the year 1975 when Hip hop started. I was born in Cape May Court House, NJ. I have been writing poems which 1 later turned into lyrics for songs since I was able to read and write. I feel that hip hop music and the culture of hip hop is deeply imbedded in my soul. 1 feel that I have been given a special gift from the creator which I plan to use to uplift people’s spirits. I would say that I am a very versatile MC. I can go into many different styles depending on the mood of the track that I am rapping to.
     I have many influences when it comes to music ranging from Hip Hop, R&B. Classic Soul, Reggae, Rock, Alternative, Blues, and Jazz. Some of the artist I like to listen to in these musical categories are 2pac, Deadprez, Nas, Biggie, DMX, Ice Cube. R. Kelly, John Legend, Mary I. Bilge, Mos Def, Talib Kwali, Common, Roots, Marvin Gaye. Bobby Womack, Sam Cooke, Four Tops, Spinners, Sizzla, Capleton, Jab Cure, The Whailers, Metallica, Lincoln Park, BB King, Fats Domino, and Kenny G just to name a few. I have performed in over 30 shows ranging from contest to night clubs in such places as the Source’s Unsigned Hype, local talent shows, Apple Teasers, Michaels, Hill 16, H20, Stardust, The Wave. Sweet Cheeks, and many more. My intention for doing the music I do is to bring about a positive change in my community. The music I make touches on subject matter that effects the economically poor people in this country which is something I know a lot about because I have always been poor. I also have been involved with radio where I was employed as the main on air personality and Music Program Director.
     My work background consists of a variety of fields which reflect an optimistic and supportive essence that has allowed me to contribute to the welfare of citizens in my community. I served my country in the U.S. military which instilled a stronger degree of confidence in my ability to focus and accomplish goals and complete missions. The job most closest to my heart was my years serving as a behavioral assistant/mentor for young juveniles in my area. The process of instilling confidence, belief, and self reliance in today’s youth has been a most rewarding experience for me spiritually and professionally.

I have recently started my own promotional booking agent company under the name of ItaBaRa Promotions. So as my great ancestor lmhotep was also a man of many talents, I intend to follow in the same footsteps as my ancestor to become not only a business man but an entrepreneur.
